Councillors Cross The Border To Visit Doncaster Landmark.
Councillors from Conwy in Wales visited the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster last week, to get an insight into how the stunning venue was developed, and to get some inspiration for their own venture at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay.
Shane Chalmers, chief executive of the Stadium Management Company and his team welcomed over 10 Welsh dignitaries who were treated to an in-depth tour of the Keepmoat Stadium’s facilities. This included viewing the spectacular 15,231 seated arena, conference and restaurant amenities, Stadium Soccer and the variety of health and fitness areas including the state-of-the-art 60 station fitness suite.
Shane Chalmers said: “It was fantastic to welcome Cllr Dilwyn Roberts and his council colleagues to the Keepmoat Stadium last week and we are truly honored that they chose to visit our stadium over many other impressive venues in the UK. We hope that they took away lots of ideas for their own project and look forward to seeing the finished concept in the near future.”
Cllr Dilwyn Roberts, Leader of Conwy County Borough Council explained: “We were all very impressed with the Stadium, the facilities it offers and we were keen to find out how the team has kept the stadium looking brand new even after trading for four years!
“We decided to visit the Keepmoat Stadium because we are currently looking for ideas for the development of Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay, which we hope will be a Centre of Excellence to meet the area’s leisure, sporting and cultural needs. This is a major project for us and we wanted to get advice from the best that the industry has to offer. I would like to say a big thank you to everybody at the Keepmoat Stadium, particularly Shane for his time and hospitality.”
