
It has been announced that Friday the thirteenth will be lucky for 12 sporting heroes in the region, as the date is set for the 2011 Keepmoat Stadium Sports Awards.
The third Sports Awards which will honour sporting heroes at a glitzy awards ceremony to be held on May 13th at the popular venue, offering entertainment, a delicious two course dinner and a few celebrity guests thrown in for good measure!
Following the success of last year’s event, the Stadium Management Company are expecting even more entries this year, making the judging increasingly difficult – illustrating just how much sporting talent the town has to its credit!
The awards will celebrate and applaud the sporting events and achievements of the last twelve months, giving many professional superstars of all ages, the recognition they truly deserve. The event will be a very memorable night of acknowledgment for excellence and success in Doncaster.
Anyone can be nominated for a Sports Award but must have been born, live or operate in Doncaster at the time of the ceremony.
Shane Chalmers, chief executive of the Stadium Management Company, said: “We were absolutely bowled over by the success of last year’s event; we received almost 200 nominations in total, making the judges jobs an almost impossible task.
“The sporting community really got behind the awards and the celebration event was truly something special.
“As a community stadium it is important that we keep up this momentum and continue to celebrate sporting achievement from across the borough.”

Shane added: “This year’s event will be a wonderful, celebration recognising the spectacular achievements of sports people from Doncaster both from local amateur activities to our professional clubs.
“We want to hear from golfers, fishing champions, sprinters and darts teams to swimmers, ice dancers, hockey players and gymnasts - absolutely everyone can get involved!
“Doncaster has a great sporting past but more importantly, it has a brilliant sporting present and future to look forward too. We want to celebrate not only our champions but as we edge ever closure to the 2012 Olympics, our champions-in-waiting.”
